For this assignment, you must use detailed statistical data, researched information and economic theories to support the arguments that you will present in your text.

Research a country of your choice and contrast the living conditions of women there with that of the women population in the United States.

You should include all of the following in your text, but can choose to incorporate more information so as to provide a more complete response:

I)   For the other country, provide:

• A brief historical description of the statistics concerning the education, marriage/divorce, poverty, social programs,…  as they relate to women in the country that you chose. Study that country over the historical period which you are able to document. You must use statistical data and factual information to address this question.
• A brief description of the religious, cultural, societal or other environmental factors that affected the above mentioned in the country that you chose. Be sure to research factual information on the subject.

II)  For the United States, provide:

• A brief historical description of the statistics concerning the education, marriage/divorce, poverty, social programs,…  as they relate to women in the United States. Study the United States over the same historical period You must use statistical data and factual information to address this question.
• A brief description of the religious, cultural, societal or other environmental factors that affected the above mentioned in the United States. Be sure to research factual information on the subject.

III)  Contrast the two countries by providing:

• A brief but quantitative description of the differences that exist between the two countries in the relevant variable levels. Be sure to provide statistical data.
• Make a qualitative assessment of why you believe that these differences exist.
• Use the knowledge acquired in this class to make a normative assessment and propose two policy recommendations that you believe would help to improve the country that you believe was lacking. (This last question will account for a significant portion of your grade)
