Using the Internet, public library, or a campus career office, find three supervisory job descriptions. You can use Indeed, Monster or other job sites to find a job description.
Select from different types of organizations. For example, a nonprofit service organization, a unionized manufacturing workplace, a retail store, a school system, a for-profit healthcare enterprise, a franchise, or a religious group – supervisory positions.
Step 2
Write a summary.
Create a one- to two-page summary that includes the following information:
- Descriptions of three supervisory jobs from different types of organizations.
- Explain what you think are the key differences in supervisory styles that employers would look for to fill the three different jobs you selected and why.
- Identifies which jobs are more “entrepreneurial” and which are more “traditional” in supervisory style and why.
- Explain how the balance between authority and responsibility might differ between traditional supervisory and entrepreneurial supervisory styles and why.
